Subject this week goes out to how extremely hilly it is here
in Concórdia. Sometimes I look at a hill we are about to go up and just laugh
because it really is so steep and long that it´s funny. But these weeks are passing soooo fast.
This week we worked a lot with the group of investigators
that we have. Igor and Patricia are finally making progress in the process of
getting married so they can get baptized. Mafalda is a woman we have been
teaching and this Sunday she walked to the chapel in the rain from about 3
miles away. John stopped making progress and didn´t go to church on Sunday so
we visited him last night and told him about the pride cycle. Now that he´s
doing better in life, he stopped going to church, reading, and praying. He said
that he realized that he was being prideful and that we would humble himself
and get back on the straight and narrow path that brings so much more
happiness. Cauana´s parents still haven´t signed the baptism paper (I don´t
know the right name for that in English) but we have a good feeling that this week
they will but we shall see.
2 really cool experiences:
On Thursday night we were almost home when we heard someone
call us from the side of the road. We went over and it was a 19 year old kid.
He told us he knew who we were because he had already talked to the
missionaries before. He said that his sister found out that she has cancer and
he wanted us to talk to her. He waited outside of his house until we passed by
to go home! I feel so humbled to know that people see me as a person that can
help in hard times. We still haven´t gotten to talk to his sister because she
has been busy but he went to church on Sunday!
On Friday we were heading up to John´s house and we were
running late so we were in a hurry. We passed by this lady and the Spirit told
me so strongly to talk to her. I put the prompting to the side because of how
late we were. But luckily Elder Nobre received the same prompting, stopped and
turned around. The moment we started talking to her she started crying. We said
we felt that we needed to talked to her and she said that she got the chills
when we passed by. She told us that her husband left her and her son that day
and was doubting her faith. We were able to comfort her and assure that God
loves her. We will visit her again this week.
Funny story:
We were walking when a 10 year old kid yelled out to us hey
what do you guys do? So we started talking to him and we went in to share a
message. We invited his mom to listen. She said ´´I already know the church
because my ex husband is Mormon but I just don´t want to waste your time
because I know that what I do is a bad sin... I have a prostitution house. But
feel free to teach my kids!´´ Elder Nobre and I just looked at each other like ???
But I really love you all and miss you all so much!!
Sempre fica firme, forte e feliz!!
Elder Scheer
